HCAC Names DC’s Draur as Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – William Draur led the Defiance College men’s tennis team to wins over Heidelberg and Goshen and has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week for men’s tennis.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – William Draur led the Defiance College men's tennis team to wins over Heidelberg and Goshen and has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week for men's tennis.
Draur went unbeaten for the Yellow Jackets from his No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions to post a 4-0 overall clip on the week. Draur won in straight sets in his singles match, before teaming with Tyler Ault to score an 8-1 win at the top doubles competition in the squad's 6-3 win at Heidelberg on Tuesday. Draur then won 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in singles and combined with Ault for another 8-1 win in doubles play during Defiance's 8-1 victory against Goshen on Saturday.
The four victories improve Draur's combined record to 10-8 in his first season with the Yellow Jackets. The Toledo, Ohio, native has gone 3-3 at the top singles slot for Defiance, while teaming with Ault for a 6-3 mark at the No. 1 doubles position.
Defiance (3-6, 1-1 HCAC) has won three of its last four matches and will look to continue its strong play when it plays at Adrian on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
