DC Men’s Tennis Cruises Into HCAC Semifinals
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s tennis team had no trouble in the opening round of the 2009 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Defiance College men's tennis team had no trouble in the opening round of the 2009 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. The third-seeded Jackets easily dispatched the sixth-seeded Anderson squad, 7-2, to advance into Sunday's action.
DC took control of the match early, using a sweep of the doubles matches to take the 3-0 lead heading into the six singles matches. Tim Kurtz and Tyler Ault then notched wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to seal the team win and Adam Fausey and Trevor Ault scored straight-set victories at No. 4 and No. 5 to widen the final gap to 7-2.
Defiance (15-7) will now play on Sunday at 8:00 am against the second-seeded Rose-Hulman (12-7) squad in the HCAC Semifinals. With a win, DC would compete for the HCAC Tournament Championship at 11:00 am against the winner of Transylvania and Franklin.
