DC Blanks Bluffton for 10th Win of Season

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's tennis team played on its home courts for the first time in 2009 and did not disappoint. The Yellow Jackets cruised past Bluffton by a 9-0 margin to push their season win total into double figures and move into a tie for second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings.
Defiance dominated play in the double matches, winning all three in shutout fashion. The trio of 8-0 victories set the tone for the afternoon and sent DC into singles play with a commanding, 3-0, cushion.
The Jackets maintained control throughout the singles action, winning five of the six matchups in straight sets to score the team victory. The most competitive match of the afternoon came at No. 1 singles, where Tim Kurtz pulled out a 6-1, 6-7, 10-4 win against Sean Williams to finish off the 9-0 Defiance victory.
DC (10-5, 4-1 HCAC) will host Transylvania and Anderson on Saturday, with action beginning on the courts at 9:00 am.
