Men's Soccer lands two All-Conference honors
CARMEL, Ind. - Senior defender Riley Hensley (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton) was named First Team All-HCAC and senior goalkeeper Orry Killam (Napoleon, Ohio/Liberty Center) was named to the Honorable Mention Team. This is the second career HCAC honor for Hensley as he was an Honorable Mention last season and this is the first career HCAC honor for Killam.
Hensley had a huge offensive output this season and led the team in goals (11), points (25), shots (55), shots on goal (27), and finished second on the team with three assists. He also recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-2 win over Hiram on Sept. 19 and ended up netting the game winner in the contest as well.
Hensley started all 19 games for the Yellow Jackets this season. Across the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), he finished fourth in shot attempts with 2.89 per game, third in shots on goal with an average of 1.42 per game and tied for third in goals.
Killam had a big year in net for the Yellow Jackets this season, playing in all 19 games and starting 18. He posted a 6-6-7 record while recording a single season career high of 130 saves.
Killam also hit the record books this season, breaking three individual career records. Those include career saves, career minutes played at goalkeeper, and career shutouts. On top of his defensive prowess this season, Orry finished with two offensive points as he was credited with two assists this season on two Defiance goals.
Across the HCAC, he led the conference in saves (130) and saves per game (6.64). Nationally, in all of NCAA Division III, he currently sits fifth in season saves.
The Yellow Jackets finished the season with an overall record of 6-6-7 and 3-2-4. After missing out on the conference tournament last year, the team returned to the tournament this year but was defeated by Transylvania in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals.
