Early Goal Leads to Yellow Jacket Loss at Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Defiance College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Earlham (Ind.) College Quakers in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Quakers hit the scoreboard just 43 seconds into the contest on a shot that found the bottom right corner of the net from 15 yards out to give Earlham the quick 1-0 lead. The home team continued on the attack in the opening half of play, but the Yellow Jacket defense hung tough to keep the score at 1-0 at the halftime break.
Defiance came out in the second half on the offensive attack, outshooting the home side 10-6. Freshman Armando Campos-Ortiz led the shots category (Dayton, Ohio / Carroll), tallying three shots, two of which on frame. Senior, Adam Ordel (Lima, Ohio / Elida) added to the offensive chances taking three shots, with one on frame.
Freshman Orry Killiam (Napoleon, Ohio / Liberty Center) got the start in the net for the Yellow Jackets tallying six saves in the day from seven shots on goal. Despite a hard-fought game, the Yellow Jackets would fall to the Quakers 1-0 in the HCAC match up.
With the loss, Defiance moves to 9-8-2 on the season and 4-3-1 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, November 2, as they host Hanover College in the final regular-season game of the 2019 campaign. Defiance College men's soccer will honor their four seniors before the match, which slated for a 3:30 pm.
