Casto Earns HCAC Offensive Player of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. -  Defiance College men's soccer junior Jaren Casto (Celina, Ohio/ Celina) scored his way to conference recognition for his performance last week. Casto lands the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor for week six of the 2019 season. 

Casto began a stellar week with a goal just 43 seconds into a contest with Great Lakes Christian on Tuesday. Casto followed up with another goal against the Crusaders midway through the first half while also dishing out two assists in the nonconference battlee. 

The junior finished out his impressive week by contributing to the Yellow Jackets 2-1 HCAC victory over Franklin on Saturday. Casto tallied the opening goal and quickly followed it up with an assist to help push Defiance to an HCAC win. Casto currently ranks top-five in goals (five) and assists (four) and sits at number two with 14 points on the conference leaderboard.

The now 6-5-1 Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday, October 9, as travel to Bluffton University for an HCAC matchup. Action against the Beavers will begin at 3:30 pm.
