Offensive Display Leads to Yellow Jacket Victory

Defiance was off to a quick start, controlling much of the possession and pace of the game. After a grouping of chances, fans at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field had something to celebrate.
The first goal of the game came from Jarren Casto (Celina, Ohio / Celina) with assists from Jacob Rygula (Midlothian, Ill. / Oak Forest) and Noah Svanberg (Grand Rapids, Ohio / Otsego ). Rygula and Svanberg recorded their second assist of the day just minutes later as Adam Ordel scored, giving Defiance a quick 2-0 lead.
Junior, Christian Rennie (Conroe, Tex. / Porter), struck next recording his third career goal for the Yellow Jackets. Casto found the back of the net once again, tallying two goals on the day as well as two assists on goals from Svanberg and Jarod Brossia (Curtice, Ohio / Genoa).
The home team didn't stop there, sophomore Eli Rogers (Gibsonburg, Ohio / Woodmore ) and junior Maxwell Alvarado (Muncie, Ind. / Burris Laboratory) each scored their first goal of the 2019 season. Before the half was over, junior Joshua Cooney (Ludington, Mich. / Ludington) connected with Rogers for his second goal of the night.
The offensive power continued in the second period for the Yellow Jackets. The Purple and Gold tucked away four more goals in the second half. Freshman Lie' vi Stewart (Guston, Ky. / Meade County) added to the stat sheet with two goals in the half, as well an assist to Lucas Panella (Burlington, Ky. / Conner). Both freshmen recorded their first career goals for the Yellow Jackets.
The final goal of the day came from freshman Benjamin Campara (Louisville, Ky. / Waggener) in the 88th minute of play, giving the Defiance a total of 13 goals on the day.
With the victory, the Purple and Gold record is now 5-5-1 on the season. The Yellow Jackets will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday, October 5th as they host Franklin College to kick off HCAC play. The match is slated to start at 3:30 pm.
