NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Defiance College men's soccer team suffered their fifth straight loss this afternoon, falling 7-1 to Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana.
MU took the lead fifteen minutes into the game as the Spartan's Tod Oram chipped in a rebound from a free kick, skimming by DC keeper Clay Musgrave. Manchester went on to outshoot the Yellow Jackets 7-1 but would end the half with just the one point lead.
The Spartans opened period two with an immediate second goal at the 48:50 minute-mark from Josh McCoy followed Oram's second goal of the night minutes later at 55:35. MU continued to attack DC, tallying a fourth goal in the 63rd minute before adding two more consecutive goals in the 81st and 83rd minutes.
Defiance was finally able to put themselves on the board as Christian Meister netted his fifth goal of the season, making the score 6-1. MU added a final goal on a penalty kick at the 89:43 mark to finish the game 7-1.
Meister paced the Jackets with two shots on goal while Milus Sutton and Caleb James added one apiece. Musgrave recorded six saves and six allowed goals in net.
DC looks to rebound this weekend as they travel to Hanover, Indiana to take on Hanover College at 3:30 on Saturday, October 21.
