DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team fell to HCAC rival Transylvania University 2-1 this afternoon at the Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field in Defiance, Ohio.
Defiance (6-4-2) took the initial lead on a Christian Meister penalty kick, quickly putting the Jackets on the board just 1:41 into the first half. The Pioneers went on to equalize four minutes later on a slicing Charlie Wend strike. In the 24th minute, Wend added a second goal, strengthening the Transy lead to 2-1.
The second half saw only three shots from Defiance, none of which connecting to keep the Pioneers at a perfect 10-0 on the season
The Pioneers outshot DC 20-5 while taking five more corner kicks at seven vs. five. Clay Musgrave faced eight shots on goal, making six saves on the day. Meister lead Defiance with two shots on goal in three shots.
The Yellow Jackets return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 11 as they travel to Earlham College for a 3:30 PM conference matchup.
