DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team took home the victory this afternoon, overpowering Franklin College 2-0 at the Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field in their "Play With Pride" game.
Defiance (5-3-2, 1-0 HCAC) opened conference action with a strong first half, taking ten shots against the Grizzlies, connecting in the 39th minute. Liam Hall found Christian Meister who sent the ball to the back of the net to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 advantage.
Just over 11 minutes into the second period, the Jackets struck again as Hall netted his own goal on the afternoon, lifting the DC lead to 2-0.
Defiance outshot the Grizzlies 17-14 while finishing the game with five corner kicks. Clay Musgrave turned in a perfect performance for DC, recording seven saves on the day. Hall tallied four shots on goal while Meister and Bennett Pack both added two apiece.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, October 4 as they host Bluffton College at 3:30 PM.
