Defiance Ends Season with Loss to Hanover (Ind.)
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s soccer team honored the seniors this afternoon as they hosted Hanover (Ind.) College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup and fell to the Panthers, 2-0.

Shots were tough to come by for Defiance (5-13-2, 3-5-1 HCAC) in the first half, only recording two. Senior forward Ashten Forde (Euclid) attacked first within the first four minutes of the game with a shot that sailed high.
Hanover (Ind.) (5-10-3, 3-4-2 HCAC) turned right around and scored a goal at the 9:16 minute mark, taking the lead, 1-0.
Despite efforts from the Yellow Jacket defense, the Panthers pulled away at the 25:44 minute mark, when a header found the back of the net. With the goal, the Panthers took a 2-0 lead.
Forde had one more shot before the half, but was unable to connect, keeping the deficit 2-0 going into halftime.
After intermission, junior midfielder Jordan Drake (Maumee/Springfield) kept the pressure on the Panther defense, with a shot that ended up sailing high.
Hanover (Ind.) kept bringing the heat, but sophomore goalkeeper Damian Koester (Englewood/Brookville) and the Yellow Jacket defensive line kept the Panthers scoreless in the second half.
The final shot of the afternoon came once again from Forde, but he was unable to connect, giving the Panthers the 2-0 road victory.
In the net for Defiance, Koester recorded three saves for the afternoon.
This afternoon's game against Hanover (Ind.) ended regular-season play for the Yellow Jackets. The College and the Yellow Jacket soccer team would like to thank Forde, senior defender Ian Fasnacht (Strongsville/Padua Franciscan) and senior forward Rob Tanya (New York, N.Y. / Frederick Douglass Academy) for all their accomplishments on and off the field. The College would like to wish all three-student athletes the very best in all their future endeavors.
