DC Ends Kiwanis Classic with Loss
WILMINGTON, OHIO – The Defiance College men’s soccer team traveled to Wilmington to take on Wilmington College and dropped its final game of the Kiwanis Classic by a score of 3-0.

WILMINGTON, OHIO – The Defiance College men's soccer team traveled to Wilmington to take on Wilmington College and dropped its final game of the Kiwanis Classic by a score of 3-0.
Shots were tough to come by for either team during the first half as Defiance (1-7-1) and Wilmington (5-2) remained scoreless going into intermission.
Wilmington came out strong in the second half of the match with two goals within 18 minutes that made it 2-0.
The Jackets put pressure on the Quakers when freshman defender Nick Kleptz (Troy) had a shot but was saved by the Wilmington goalie.
Wilmington pulled away at the 83:50 mark when they found the back of the net to take the 3-0 lead.
Defiance failed to get any more shots from there on out and the Quakers came up with the big home victory.
Wilmington dominated in shots on the evening, racking up 21 (nine on goal) to the Yellow Jackets four (two on goal).
In the net for Defiance, sophomore Damian Koester (Englewood, Ohio / Brookville) ended the game with five saves and sophomore midfielder Victor Trifiro (Akron / Walsh Jesuit) added one shot on goal to lead Defiance.
For their efforts over the two day event, Blayne Robbins (Galva, Ill. / Miamisburg) and Ian Fasnacht (Strongsville / Padua Franciscan) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Purple & Gold returns to action on Saturday, September 27 when they travel to Berea to take on Baldwin Wallace University at 3:00 p.m.
