DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets surrendered a season-high four goals on Saturday afternoon, as they fell, 4-1, to the Franklin Grizzlies for their first loss of the season in the HCAC. Defiance is now ranked sixth with a 1-1-1 record in the conference and six games left to play.
Less than three minutes into the game, Defiance took an early 1-0 lead when Joe Loftis capitalized on a penalty-kick opportunity for his third goal of the season. The one-goal advantage was not nearly enough however, as the Grizzlies answered with two quick goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead in the 11th minute.
Franklin carried the momentum through the break and added two more goals in the second period to put the game out of reach. Joe Loftis and Jaiden Henderson led Defiance offensively with two shots on goal apiece.
Defiance will host the Spartans of Manchester College on Wednesday, October 13, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Manchester sits one game behind the Yellow Jackets with a 1-2 record in the conference.
