DEFIANCE, Ohio - The men's soccer team ended their season on Saturday with a 7-3 loss to Franklin College. The loss gives the Yellow Jackets a 5-12 overall record for their 2009 campaign.
The game was held on DC's senior day and the team's lone senior, Greg Vogt, delivered big for Defiance, recording two assists in the game to give the Willowick, Ohio, native a team-high six assists on the season. Vogt ends his career at DC with 14 assists in four seasons. Freshman forward Kyle Johnson and sophomore midfielder Joseph Loftis also had big days for the Yellow Jackets. Johnson recorded two goals in the game, while Loftis registered one goal and one assist.
Goalkeeper Taylor Smoot recorded seven saves in the match, giving the freshman 74 saves on the season. The Yellow Jackets finish the year ranked second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in goals and goals per game.
