DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 to Rochester College in the final match of the DC Classic on September 6. DC's record drops to 1-1-0 with the loss.
The Jackets out-shot the Warriors 5-3 in the first half, but both defenses held strong as the teams went in to halftime with a 0-0 tie. Rochester got on the scoreboard first as Jon May scored on a deflected ball in the 55th minute to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage. Peter Nelson extended Rochester's lead to 2-0 when he connected from long distance on a free kick. Rochester's Bernard Kanjoma collected a deflected save in the 75th minute and scored to push the Warriors' lead to 3-0.
Sophomore Joseph Loftis put DC on the board off an assist from Greg Vogt late in the game to shrink the deficit to two goals. However, the Jacket's rally came too late as the Warriors escaped with a 3-1 victory.
Defiance will return to action on September 12, when it hosts Wooster at the Defiance High School soccer field at 3:00 p.m.
