Men's golf improves over second day at HCAC Championships
FLORENCE, Ind. – Defiance College men's golf continued their play at the three-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Belterra Golf Club on Saturday by shaving seven collective strokes off their first-round total.
Highlighting Round 2 for Defiance was Zach Canterbury (Tontogany, Ohio/Otsego) with a team-best 93. He completed a team-low on the front nine with 46 and rallied for three straight pars to close up his second round. Canterbury's two-day total is 192 combined with a round of 99 on Friday.
Seth Pearson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrup) also bettered his first round with a sub-100 day of 97. Grant Johnson (Waynesville, Ohio/Waynesville) beat his personal best by scoring a 106, and Will Garlock (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic) knocked 13 strokes off his day one performance by firing a 118. Paytons Switzer (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) turned in a card of 130.
As a team, DC combined for a 414 and hold an 835 over the first two days of action.
The final round of competition continues from the Belterra Golf Club on Sunday with tee times beginning at 11 a.m.
