Men's Golf Places Third at Hanover Invitational
HANOVER, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team had two individuals place in the top-five to lead the Yellow Jackets to a third-place finish at the Hanover (Ind.) College Invitational at Shadowood Golf Course in Semour, Ind.
HANOVER, IND. -- The Defiance College men's golf team had two individuals place in the top-five to lead the Yellow Jackets to a third-place finish at the Hanover (Ind.) College Invitational at Shadowood Golf Course in Semour, Ind.
Defiance improved by 10 strokes in the final round to finish the two day event with a total of 628 strokes (319+309=628) to place third overall out of six teams. Franklin (Ind.) College won the event with 612 strokes (298+314=612) and was followed by host school Hanover in second place with 626 strokes (308+318=626).
Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) and senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) both placed in the top-five individually with Miday posting a two-day total of 150 strokes (76+74=150) to finish third and Tinsley finishing fourth with 152 total strokes (78+74=152).
Senior Derek Lucas (Eaton) finished third on the team with a two-day score of 160 strokes (82+78=160) followed by junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) with 169 strokes (86+83=169). Rounding out the team-qualifying scores was senior Zach Weber (Ottoville) with a total of 170 strokes (83+87=170).
Also competing as an individual was sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) who carded a two-day total of 178 strokes (87+91=178).
Defiance will next compete in the Earlham (Ind.) College Invitational beginning on Friday, Apr. 14 in Richmond, Ind.
