Alex Miday Selected HCAC Player of the Week

GREENWOOD, OHIO  --  Defiance College junior men's golfer Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) has been selected as this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference "Men's Golfer of the Week."

Miday was the only player to shot under par at two-under with a two-day total of 142 strokes at the Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational to open the 2016 Fall season.  Miday carded both rounds with 71 strokes which was the lowest individual score posted for the tournament to take medalist honors. This was the second event in a row that Miday took medalist honors as the top individual dating back to last year's HCAC Championships. 

At this event last year, Miday finished with a total of 143 strokes, with 71 strokes in round one and 72 strokes the following day to finish one under par. 

Defiance will host the annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 13) at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio. The single-round tournament is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
