Yellow Jackets wrap first day of Hanover Invite
HANOVER, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets wrapped the first round of the Hanover College Spring Invitational with several strong performances.
HANOVER, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets wrapped the first round of the Hanover College Spring Invitational with several strong performances.
Mike Ross led the way for the Yellow Jackets on the day, shooting a 77 in the opening round. Ross opened up the day with a 40 on the front nine and, but fired back with a 37 on the back nine to finish the day in a tie for 20th place.
Richard Girona had a big day for Defiance, finishing second for the Yellow Jackets in the round. Girona finished with a first round score of 79. Girona shot a 39 on the front nine and came back with a 40 on the back nine to wrap the day in a tie of 28th.
Zach Weber and Josh DeGroff finished in a tie for 39th on the day and a tie for third for DC. Weber shot the better of the two on the front nine with a 39, but came back with a 42 on the back nine. DeGroff shot a 40 on the front nine and came back with a 41 on the back nine.
Hurst Talbott and Derek Lucas also competed for Defiance on the day, finishing as non-scoring members for the Yellow Jackets. The duo finished in a tie for 54th with rounds of 83.
Ryan Edelbrock and Jacob Tinsley also competed for the Yellow Jackets in non-scoring roles. Edelbrock finished the first round with an 85 and Tinsley scored an 86 in the opening 18 holes.
Defiance will wrap up the Hanover Invitational on Sunday with the second and final round on Sunday.
