DC golf wraps up weekend at Rose-Hulman in seventh
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Mike Ross shot a second day 77 (+5) to finish eighth in the Rose-Hulman Invitational and the Yellow Jacket men’s golf squad concluded the competition in seventh with a score of 660 on Sunday, March 30.

After posting a team score of 326 on the first day of action, Defiance shot a 334 Sunday. Ross (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) led the team with his round of 77. For the tournament, the senior recorded a 36-hole score of 152 (+8), which was six strokes behind leader Mike Marcagi of Thomas More.
The Purple and Gold then had three golfers tie for the second-best round of day two. Derek Lucas (Eaton, Ohio / Eaton), Ryan Edelbrock (Delphos, Ohio / Delphos St. Johns) and Hurst Talbot (Columbus, Ohio / St. Charles Prep) all posted 84's (+12).
Lucas had the biggest jump in score, as he shaved 11 strokes from Saturday to Sunday and finished at 179 (+35). Talbot and Edelbrock both improved as well, taking five strokes off their first-round score for 173's (+29).
Jake Tinsley (Kettering, Ohio / Eaton) and Rick Girona (McClure, Ohio / Ostego) were the next two finishers on the afternoon. Tinsley shot an 86 to conclude play and ended the weekend second on the squad at 169 (+25). Girona tied with Edelbrock and Talbot for third amongst the Yellow Jackets at 173 (+29).
After a solid 82 on day one, Zach Weber (Ottoville, Ohio / Ottoville) struggled on Sunday with an 18-hole score of 94 (+22) and concluded the invite at 179 (+35). Wrapping up the golfers for Defiance was Josh DeGroff (Stryker, Ohio / Stryker), who cut four strokes off today to shoot a 93 (+21) and wrap up the weekend at 190 (+46).
Hanover was able to hold on to first, after being ahead on day one and take the invitational with a score of 612. Host Rose-Hulman and Thomas More then tied for second on the weekend with 620 strokes.
The DC golf team will return to the links this upcoming weekend, when it travels to Indiana for the Hanover Invitational. Tee times are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
