Yellow Jacket finish 7th in Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament
WAUSEON, Ohio - The Defiance College Men's Golf team competed in the annual Jon Spiess Memorial Tournament Tuesday afternoon, finishing in seventh place in the one-day event, combining for a score of season best team score of 317.

All six Yellow Jackets participating in the event posted season best rounds.
Mike Ross led the way for Defiance, shooting a 1-over par round of 73 for an eighth place finish in the 65 player tournament. The senior out of Bryan, Ohio posted four birdies on the day, including three straight on holes three through five to help post a front nine score of 35 (-1). Ross then reeled off nine straight pars before posting a double bogey on the par-3 15th hole.
Rick Girona shot a season best by four strokes Tuesday afternoon, finishing with a round of 79. Girona had two birdies on the day and also finished with eight pars.
Zach Weber, who played the round as an individual, shot an 81, nine strokes better than his season low coming into the event. Weber had a birdie and eight pars on the day.
Freshman Derek Lucas posted the next best round for the Yellow Jackets on the day, shooting an 82 on the par 72 Ironwood Golf Course. Lucas started out the day with seven pars through the first eight holes. He also posted four pars on the back nine.
Ryan Edelbrock shot four strokes lower than his season best round, finishing with a round of 83. Hurst Talbot rounded out the scoring for Defiance, shooting a round of 85.
