DC Men’s Golf Moves Into Fifth at HCAC Championship
FRANKLIN, Ind. – Defiance College shot a 338 on day two of the 2010 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship to move up one spot in the standings and into fifth place at the midway point of the four-round event.
FRANKLIN, Ind. – Defiance College shot a 338 on day two of the 2010 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship to move up one spot in the standings and into fifth place at the midway point of the four-round event.
The score of 338 moved the Jackets to 658 through two rounds and two strokes in front of Anderson for fifth place. Transylvania added to its team lead atop the standings, shooting a 309 to end at 601 and 20 shots ahead of second-place Franklin (621). MSJ (630), Hanover (634), Defiance (658), Anderson (660), Rose-Hulman (678) and Manchester (681) rounded out the standings.
Transylvania's Hunter Frazier moved up from third place to take sole possession of first with a 147, while Franklin's Tom Moore finished just one shot back in second place.
Defiance continued to be paced by Jace Neal, as he shot a 79 and finished in a tie for sixth with a tally of 155. Brian Jones was DC's only other competitor in the top 20, as he moved into a tie for 17th with a total of 161.
The HCAC Championship will continue with the third and fourth rounds on May 1 and 2, when the tournament moves to Defiance, Ohio, and the Kettenring Country Club. Action is set to begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, and 9:00 am on Sunday.
