DC Continues Play with Third Round of HCAC Championship

Defiance struggled over the course of the afternoon and finished with its worst team score of the event by shooting a 356. The Yellow Jackets will enter Saturday's final round in eighth place.
Transylvania will carry a commanding lead into the final round, as the Pioneers hold a 25 stroke advantage over the second-place Franklin squad. Rose-Hulman, MSJ and Anderson round out the top five, with Manchester, Hanover and DC completing the standings.
The individual competition is much closer and pits the top seven golfers within four shots of the lead through 54 holes of action. Franklin's Eric Whitaker leads a pack of Transy players, topping TU's Brad Sutherland by one shot and James Dawson and Eli Glass by two.
Jace Neal remains Defiance's top competitor and sits in 21st, while Jared James continued his climb up the standings into 25th.
The fourth and final round will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday with the 2009 HCAC Championship on the line.
