Jackets Gain Ground at Day Two of HCAC Championship
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s golf team shaved 11 strokes off its score in the second round of the HCAC Championship and climbed to within three shots of Hanover for seventh place in the team standings.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance College men's golf team shaved 11 strokes off its score in the second round of the HCAC Championship and climbed to within three shots of Hanover for seventh place in the team standings.
Transylvania will carry an eight-shot edge into the tournament's second weekend of action at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio on May 1 and 2. The Pioneers will be followed in the standings by Franklin, Rose-Hulman, MSJ, Anderson, Manchester, Hanover and Defiance.
Two golfers are gridlocked atop the individual standings, with Rose-Hulman's Mark Koroluk and Transylvania's Brad Sutherland tied at 156.
Jace Neal continued to pace Defiance and rounded out the second round in a tie for 14th and just one shot out of the top 10. Jared James is also in the top 30 after two rounds, while Matt Gehring is in 31st and Brian Jones is in 36th.
Action will resume on May 1 and 2 with the third round beginning on Friday at 11:00 am.
