DC’s Neal in Top Ten After HCAC’s Opening Round

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2009 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship got underway on Saturday afternoon at the Hulman Links Golf Club. The eight teams will play single rounds on Saturday and Sunday, before concluding the four-round event at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio on May 1 and 2.

The Yellow Jackets finished the opening day of action in eighth place with a first-round score of 352. Jace Neal will enter play on Sunday in a tie for 10th after carding an 81. Matt Gehring fired an 87 to tie for 26th and Jared James rounded out DC's top three by tying for 33rd with an 89.

Transylvania shot a 321 and will take a one stroke lead over Franklin into play on Sunday, while Anderson's Kent Wohlberg tops the individual leaderboard with a 76.

Play is set to resume on Sunday, with the first tee time set for 8:00 am.
