James Takes Second Place at DC Fall Open

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's golf team closed out its 2008 fall campaign on Saturday when it hosted the DC Fall Open. The Jackets took two of the three top spots, with Jared James and Matt Haviland finishing second and third in the individual standings.

The three-team event was scored as an individual competition featuring student-athletes from Defiance, Rochester and Owens Community College. Jimmy Bell of Owens took the top spot in the standings with a 72 and was followed by DC's tandem of James (73) and Haviland (74).

Aaron Konold joined James and Haviland in the top 10, ending in a tie for ninth after carding an 81. Jace Neal took 13th with an 85, Brian Jones was 19th with a 90 and Matt Gehring ended 20th with a 92.
