Jordan named Second Team All-HCAC in men’s basketball for second time
CARMEL, Ind. – For the second consecutive season, Defiance College’s Marell Jordan, a 6-foot-2 junior guard from Chicago, Illinois, and Lafayette (Indiana) Jefferson High School, was named Second Team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference as the HCAC office announced its 2021 men’s basketball all-conference squads and major award winners on Thursday morning. Jordan also was the lone representative from Defiance on the All-HCAC teams last year after a vote of the conference’s head coaches.

Jordan also was the lone representative from Defiance on the All-HCAC teams last year after a vote of the conference's head coaches.
Despite missing one of the Yellow Jackets' seven contests this past season, Jordan led the HCAC and DC in points per game (20.3) and steals per game (2.3). He also paced his squad in total points (122), field goals made (47), field goal percentage (.566), free throws made (23), total steals (14) and assists per game (2.5) while averaging 2.8 rebounds an outing. Jordan shot 50.0 percent (5 of 10) from three-point range and 74.2 (23 of 31) at the foul line. His field goal percentage and free throw percentage ranked second and fifth, respectively, in the conference.
In all, there were six players selected First Team All-HCAC, six more on the second team and eight on the honorable mention list. Special awards announced were for Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Defiance finished 1-6 overall this past campaign with a roster consisting of no seniors and just two juniors among the 18 players.
