Alexander Tabbed HCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College men's basketball player Tyler Alexander (Indianapolis, Ind./Northwest) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College men's basketball player Tyler Alexander (Indianapolis, Ind./Northwest) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Alexander helped the Yellow Jackets to wins against Bluffton University and Transylvania (Ky.) University this past week while averaging 19.0 points per game and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game. He shot 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the free-throw line. In addition, Alexander tallied 12 assists to go along with four steals defensively.
Alexander scored 20 points with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, shooting 7-for-13 from the field in DC's 76-72 overtime win at Bluffton Wednesday. Alexander capped the week with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 96-72 win against Transylvania.
For the sesaon, Alexander leads the team in scoring at 17.3 ppg. and is second in rebounding with 6.8 rpg. He is shooting 60.1 percent from the floor (146-of-243) and leads the team in both free-throws made (70) and attempts (113). He also has a team-best 67 assists and is second in steals with 17.
Defiance has won its last four games and will look to keep the streak going this week when it hosts Manchester (Ind.) University in a HCAC game on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Karl H. Weaner Center in the regular-season home finale. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
