Wolfrum Nets 31 in Loss to Rose-Hulman
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Logan Wolfrum poured in over 30 points for the fifth time in his career, ending with a season-high 31 on 10-of-18 shooting but it would not be enough to get the Jackets past Rose-Hulman on Saturday, as the visiting Engineers rolled past DC by an 87-70 margin.

Defiance struggled to find the range against the top-ranked defensive unit in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, opening four-of-17 from the field in the first 12 minutes. Rose-Hulman capitalized by storming to a 24-9 lead with 8:06 to play and maintaining the spread for a 43-29 halftime cushion.
The Engineers extended the lead to 49-31 early into the second half, before DC used a 15-2 spurt to cut the gap to five points at the 14:23 mark. The Jackets used the long ball to claw back into the game, getting triples from Mason Roth, Wolfrum and Drew Frizell for the final nine points of the stretch.
Rose-Hulman withstood the barrage and scored 13 of the next 17 tallies to but Defiance back into a 14-point hole at 64-50. DC had one more spurt, netting seven-straight points to slice the deficit in half, but would get no closer as R-H pushed the lead right back into double figures and scored the final seven points of the game to ice the 87-70 victory.
Defiance struggled once again on the glass, as Rose-Hulman pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and outscored the Jackets by a 17-0 margin in the final 20 minutes on second-chance points. Rose-Hulman ended with 18 offensive caroms and held a 46-33 advantage on the glass for the game.
Wolfrum was one of the few offensive bright spots for Defiance with 31 points and four helpers in 35 minutes of work. A pair of freshmen also cracked double figures, with Jeff Hugan netting a career-high 14 points and pulling in five boards in 14 minutes and Mason Roth scoring 13 to extend his streak of six-straight double-digit performances to open his collegiate career.
Defiance (2-4, 0-2 HCAC) will be back in action on Saturday, December 10, when it travels to Hanover to take on the Panthers (3-2, 0-1 HCAC) at 3:00 pm.
