Bio

The 2018 season will mark the first year for Wayne Anderson Jr. as a member of the Defiance football coaching staff.

Anderson comes to Defiance with an extensive football background ranging from High School to NAIA, Division III, Division II, International, Professional and AAA Minor League.

Coach Anderson currently served as the Offensive Coordinator/ Quarterback Coach of College Gridiron Showcase. College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium is a 5-day event for ALL College FB Divisions. CGS is the first all-star event to implement an OTA style format for football professionals. Our format showcases the player through practices and a controlled scrimmage to scouts and executives from top professional leagues such as the NFL and CFL.

Anderson coached in the Fall Experimental Football League as Offensive Coordinator/Quarteback Coach of the Hudson Valley Fort (2015) and the Brooklyn Bolts (2014). The Bolts won the Inaugural FXFL Championship and lead the league in Scoring Offense. Former Bolts players on current professional rosters are Jordan Dangerfield (Steelers), Kevin Fogg (Blue Bomber), A.C. Leonard and Diontae Spencer (Redblacks)

Prior to his most recent stint in the FXFL Anderson coached internationally in Europe where he served as a team consultant for the Roma Grizzlies. While on staff, the Grizzlies competed as part of the Second Division National Playoffs, winning a National Championship in 2013 and 2014.

He also served as head coach for the Bari Patriots, Italy (2012), Bialystok Lowlanders, Poland (2011), Odense Swans, Denmark (2010), Offensive Coordinator for the Lazio Marines, Italy (2008) and the Nidaros Domers, Norway (2005). During his time with the Patriots, he guided the team to the National Playoffs, Southern Conference Championship game, ranked fifth in CIF9, ranked third in the Conference and set the regional scoring record for most points in a game. During His time with the Lazio Marines, He help guided the team to the NFLI Central Division Championship and to the NFLI Semi-Final game. The Marines set many team seasonal offensive records and finished in the NFLI 2nd in Scoring Offense and 4th in Total Offense. 

Anderson's collegiate coaching experience included stints at Edward Waters College, Waynesburg University, Florida Atlantic University, and Cayuga Community College. While at Waynesburg, he served as the receivers coach helping guide the team to the Presidents Athletic Conference Championship and the NCAA Division III playoffs. The team also competed as part of the 2004 ECAC Southeast Bowl Game. Anderson coached All-American's Jim Hyland, Craig Petrus, and Mike Czerwien during his time in Pennsylvania. 

Coach Anderson has also found success off the field where he serves as a consultant and editor for the American Football Monthly and Gridiron Strategies. He is also selected to be inducted into the Minor League Football Report Hall of Fame on December 7, 2018. 

Coach Anderson and his wife Kathryn have two adult children and five grandchildren
