Coltrain tabbed HCAC Defensive Player of the Week
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College senior linebacker Thomas Coltrain (Leslie, Mich./Leslie) has been named Football Defensive Player of the Week by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the conference announced on Monday.
During the Yellow Jackets' 48-19 loss at Franklin on Saturday, Coltrain turned in the top-tackling performance of the year among HCAC players with 17 total stops on defense. Coltrain leads Defiance with 50 tackles and 35 solo tackles this season, both ranking as the second-highest totals among HCAC defenders.
Coltrain is up to 219 tackles for his collegiate career, the 25th-highest total among active NCAA Division III defenders. He also is among career leaders nationally with 149 solo takedowns, ranked 11th among active D-III players and 73rd in the NCAA.
The Yellow Jackets (0-6, 0-3 HCAC) host Anderson (0-6, 0-3 HCAC) this Saturday, October 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Justin F. Coressel Stadium in Defiance.
