Football to Host "Samaritan Feet" Game Against RHIT
DEFIANCE, OHIO -– The Defiance College Yellow Jacket football team has announced that this Saturday's game against Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology will be part of an event that will benefit Samaritan’s Feet and help provide shoes to children in need.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -– The Defiance College Yellow Jacket football team has announced that this Saturday's game against Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology will be part of an event that will benefit Samaritan's Feet and help provide shoes to children in need.
Defiance will hold a shoe donation drive at the game on Saturday, as well as accept monetary donations. The organization requests that all donated shoes be new and unused. Fans may also purchase Samaritan's Feet wristbands at the game. Wristbands are $10.
All nine HCAC football squads are hosting an event this season, and are the first conference in the NCAA to do a conference-wide initiative for the organization.
Samaritans Feet is a non-profit organization founded by Manny Ohonme in 2003. Their mission is to equip ten million impoverished children with ten million shoes in ten years. Since beginning in 2003, Samaritan's Feet has helped 4 million people in 60 countries. They also have partnerships with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee).
