Pickett helped to hold the Engineers to zero yards rushing as a team on the afternoon, while limiting the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's leading rusher, Kyle Kovach, to 14 yards on 14 touches. The DC front line was especially stingy in the decisive fourth quarter, where it pushed Rose-Hulman back for a loss of 24 yards on the ground in the final 15 minutes of action.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native ended the game with one sack and 2.5 tackles for negative yardage from his nose tackle position, and added five total stops to help Defiance to its fourth-straight victory.
The D3football.com National Team-of-the-Week selection was the second of the season for a Yellow Jacket student-athlete on the gridiron. Pickett follows Tony Sierra on the list, after Sierra was recognized for his performance in a, 23-13, win at Mount St. Joseph on October 8.
Pickett and the Jackets (4-4, 4-2 HCAC) will look to continue their resurgence, when they play host to Manchester (2-6, 1-5 HCAC) on Saturday for a 1:30 pm start inside Justin F. Coressel Stadium.
