Longsdorf led the Purple and Gold in tackles for the sixth-straight contest, piling up 16 total stops in the victory to go with one sack, one interception, two hits for lost yardage and a pair of passes broken up. His playmaking allowed DC to limit the Mount to just 48 total yards of offense over the final two quarters on a measly 1.8 yards per snap.
Longsdorf also turned in one of the most crucial plays of the afternoon, as he picked off an MSJ pass at the DC 45-yard line with just over one minute left in the game and ran it back 31 yards to seal the Defiance victory.
The HCAC weekly honor is the first for Longsdorf this season and the third such award in his collegiate career. The two-time All-HCAC performer joins Rick Powell and Tom Foos in being recognized as HCAC Players of the Week during the 2010 campaign.
Longsdorf and the Jackets (2-3, 2-2 HCAC) will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday, when they travel to Richmond, Ind., for their first-ever HCAC meeting with Earlham (0-6, 0-4 HCAC). The game is slated to begin at 1:30 pm.
