DEFIANCE, Ohio – Keith Snyder and Tom Foos were each recently selected as NCAA III All-Ohio players, as announced by OhioCollegeFootball.com. Snyder earned First-Team Defense honors, while Foos was placed on the Second-Team Defense.
The honor for Snyder comes on the heels of being named First-Team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and Second-Team All-North Region by D3Football.com. The senior free safety anchored the Yellow Jacket defense during his final collegiate campaign and ranked 11th in the nation with 11.9 tackles per contest, while turning in a career-best and HCAC-leading 119 total hits. Snyder also led the conference with 13 passes defended and tied for second among all HCAC players with three interceptions in seven conference games.
Foos was also a First-Team All-HCAC selection and served as the special teams' ace for the Purple and Gold during his sophomore campaign, by netting 38.6 yards per punt for the 34th-best average in the nation. Foos consistently flipped the field position by pinning opponents deep in their own territory and ended with seven punts inside the 20-yard line and three punts of over 50 yards.
Snyder and Foos helped the Yellow Jackets end the 2008 season with four-straight victories and a 4-3 mark in the HCAC. Defiance will look to continue those winning ways when it opens its 2009 campaign at home against Muskingum on Sep. 5 at 1:30 pm.
