D3Football.com Names Dillon to All-American Team
DEFIANCE, Ohio -- One week after garnering First Team All-North Region honors, Luke Dillon has been selected to the www.D3football.com All-American Team. Dillon was one of 100 players to be named All-American, earning an Honorable Mention nod.
DEFIANCE, Ohio -- One week after garnering First Team All-North Region honors, Luke Dillon has been selected to the www.D3football.com All-American Team. Dillon was one of 100 players to be named All-American, earning an Honorable Mention nod.
With the selection, Dillon becomes Defiances first All-American since Scott Heighland and Ryan Pfefferle were each named Honorable Mention after the 2003 season. Dillon is the third Yellow Jacket to become an All-American under the watchful eye of head coach Rob Taylor.
The explosive wide receiver ends his career as one of the finest at his position to come through the Defiance program. Dillon is the schools all-time leader with 28 career receiving touchdowns and also holds the single-game and single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Dillons 2007 campaign was his finest, as he ranked sixth in the nation with 9.3 catches per game and 124.1 yards per game. The Temperance, Mich., native was named as the HCACs Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player after totaling 93 receptions for 1,241 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Dillon was a three-time HCAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2007 and received national weekly honors on two occasions. The six-foot, five-inch receiver also participated in the Aztec Bowl in Chihuahua, Mexico on Dec. 8 and caught a pair of passes for 13 yards in Team USAs 37-19 victory.
