Football Set to Host Adrian in Season Opener
DEFIANCE, Ohio The Defiance College football team will get the 2007 season underway on Saturday when it plays host to regional rival, Adrian College, with kickoff slated for 1:30 pm at Coressel Stadium.

Each squad will enter the year featuring a new look as both Defiance and Adrian each lost 12 starters from one year ago. The Yellow Jackets will return six offensive and four defensive starters, while the Bulldogs bring back five starters on each side of the ball.

Adrian vs. Defiance

This Weeks Game - Defiance will open its 2007 campaign this afternoon with the hopes of keeping momentum from a strong seven-win 2006 season. DC posted its highest win total since 2001 and has won 13 of its last 18 ballgames.
Scouting Defiance - The Yellow Jackets will return 10 starters from last season, including six on the offensive side of the ball. Hans Vetter will return for his third season under center and will be flanked by a dangerous wide receiving duo of Luke Dillon and Gary Allen. The Jackets will be led on defense by returning First Team All-HCAC players Chris Tietje and Nic Cass, while Keith Snyder and Ruben Echezabal will also return to the starting lineup.
Scouting Adrian - Adrian enters the 2007 slate picked to finish second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Bulldogs will also be featuring several new faces this season as they return only five starters on offense and five on defense.
Series History - Todays game will mark the 54th all-time meeting between Defiance and Adrian. The Jackets own a 28-24-1 edge in the series history.
Jackets Vs The 2007 Schedule - Defiance will face the same 10 opponents in 2007 as it did during the 2006 season. The Yellow Jackets posted a 7-3 record one year ago and own a 147-128-4 all-time record against their 2007 opponents.
Top-Ranked Foes - Defiance will face another challenging schedule in 2007. The slate will be highlighted by a pair of key Heartland Conference games against Franklin and Mount St. Joseph. Franklin enters the season ranked No. 32 in the nation with Mount St. Joseph holding the No. 40 spot in the preaseason D3Football.com rankings.
Around the HCAC - The Heartland Conference got things started on Thursday night as Manchester fell, 14-9, to a much-improved Tri-State squad. Seven other HCAC teams will be in action on Saturday. The opening weekend is highlighted by several interesting non-conference games as DC hosts Adrian, Mount St. Joseph plays at Wilmington and Franklin hits the road to play Ohio Wesleyan.
Whats On Tap? - The Yellow Jackets will take to the road for a pair of non-conference games after todays season opener. Defiance will play at Otterbein on Sept. 8 before taking on Tri-State on Sept. 15. DC will then have a bye week before returning home to begin its Heartland Conference schedule with a home contest against the Manchester Spartans on Sept. 29.
