Scoop Miller joined the Defiance College baseball coaching staff prior to the 2009 campaign and will be in his 12th year with the Purple and Gold in 2020.

Miller brings additional coaching experience to the Defiance dugout after spending 10 seasons as the head baseball coach at Archbold High School. During his time at Archbold, Miller guided the Blue Streaks to a 190-69 overall record while leading them to the 2005 Division III state championship. Miller also piled up nine sectional championships, four Northwest Ohio Athletic League titles, three district crowns and one regional championship.

During his time as a high school baseball coach, Miller garnered five Coach-of-the-Year honors, was named a 2004 State All-Star Coach and won the Ohio High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award in 2008.

A 1984 graduate of Goshen College, Miller tossed the first no-hitter in school history and also lettered in basketball, where he was a two-time all-league selection in the Mid-Central Conference.

Miller is currently teaching physical education at Archbold Middle School and pursuing a master’s degree from DC. He and his wife, Janet, have two daughters, Jordan and Taylor, and one son, Paxson.
