The Defiance baseball team suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon, falling to NAIA Taylor 9-2 in nonconference play.

Inside The Numbers
- Grad student Nate Kaffenbarger went 2-4 with two RBIs to lead the Defiance offense.
- Sophomore Hunter Bostater, junior Josh Vischer, and junior Dylan King each had a hit in the contest.
- Grad student Cohen Nies got the start went four innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three.
- Sophomore John Hammerstein threw one inning of relief and struck out three Trojans.
- TJ Bass went 3-3 with two RBIs to lead Taylor.
- Conner Crawford went 2-4 with a grand slam.
- Conner Miller got the win for the Trojans.
The Difference
- After five scoreless innings, Kaffenbarger drove in two runs to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 lead.
- Taylor answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
- Taylor then broke the game open with a seven-run seventh inning in large part to a grand slam that gave them a 9-2 lead.
