Yellow Jackets Fall to Battling Bishops

DELAWARE, OHIO -- The Defiance College baseball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University, 20-0, in nonconference action on Wednesday at Littick Field.
The Battling Bishops scored one run each in the first two innings, and held a 2-0 advantage through four. Ohio Wesleyan poured on six runs in the fifth, five in the sixth, and seven more in the seventh to bring home the 20-0 victory.
The bright spot for the Yellow Jackets came at the top of the order, as junior Garrett Sierra (Defiance) went 3-for-4 on the day. Defiance also got hits from juniors Tanner Stippich (Lima/Allen East) and Kody Fuller (Wabash, Ind.), as well as freshman Nolan Kestner (Mason).
Freshman Michael Reese (Constantine, Mich.) made the start for Defiance, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits. After a pair of relievers allowed a combined 12 earned runs, sophomore Garrett Enders (Arcadia) threw 1.1 innings, allowing three hits and a walk, but not allowing a run.
Defiance will return to the confines of Craig A. Rutter Field for an HCAC doubleheader against Earlham (Ind.) College on Friday, Apr. 13. First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m.
