Ravens Complete Sweep of DC Baseball

ANDERSON, Ind. --  Defiance suffered a pair of losses at Raven Park on Saturday as Anderson scored 5-2 and 8-6 wins over the Yellow Jackets to complete a three-game sweep in the Heartland Conference matchup.

DC managed to collect more hits than Anderson in the opener, 8-7, but Justin Woolsey limited the Jackets to a pair of runs in six strong innings and Evan McLain worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

LeTroy Harris and Lenny Koesters each had two hits and Jeremy Hawkins and Mike Hill scored the only runs of the game for DC.

In the second game, Defiance scored twice in the top of the first and managed to hold leads of 3-1, and 6-2 before Anderson rallied back to claim the 8-6 victory.

Nick Picciano pitched well, allowing just three earned runs in 6.1 innings, but four Yellow Jacket errors led to four unearned runs.

Tim Pitro went 2-5 with his third homerun of the season and added a pair of RBI and Koesters scored twice while going 1-3 at the plate. Harris went 1-4 from the cleanup slot, scoring once, driving home another and picking up two steals.

DC (10-20) will play at Ohio Northern on Sunday at 1:00 pm before traveling to North Manchester to take on the Spartans on Tuesday at 4:15.
