Ashley Birchmeier enters her third year as the Sports Information Director at Defiance College.

Birchmeier also serves as a professor in the Sports Management program offered by Defiance College. 

She comes to Defiance after serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communication at Muskingum University. While at Muskingum, Birchmeier helped coordinate the media relations and promotional efforts for 21-varsity sports, as well as developed and trained students on all aspects of game day management. 

Prior to Muskingum, Birchmeier spent two years at Ohio Northern where she served as the Assistant Sports Information Director. While at ONU, she helped coordinate the media relations and promotional efforts for 23-varsity sports and managed the Polar Bear social media programs, which included a YouTube channel, Twitter feed, and Facebook page. Moreover, Birchmeier served as the Assistant Sports Information contact for the 2015 NCAA Division III Tennis Championships and was the main media contact for the 2015 OHSAA Men's District and Women's Regional Basketball Tournament.

Furthermore, Birchmeier strengthened her sports information craft when she helped managed the NCAA Men's Basketball Division I Championships second and third round events during the 2015 and 2019 seasons.

Birchmeier, a Defiance College alumna and a four-year varsity letter winner as a member of the women's basketball program, graduated in May 2014 with a B.A. in Business Administration. She furthered her education at Bowling Green State University where she earned her Master's of Education in Sport Administration in May 2016.
